For white, sandy beaches
Bournemouth has about TEN miles of lovely, golden beaches with a tropical vibe, making it ideal for a relaxed seaside getaway. Whether you’re visiting for a day or a family vacation, the gorgeous coastline scenery and neighbouring New Forest National Park will make your journey to the south of England unforgettable. Bournemouth beaches are lauded for their cleanliness and safety precautions, and whether you’re taking a long (dog-friendly!) walk along the beach or heading to the classic pier for some arcade fun, we’re confident you’ll never want to leave.
In addition to the beautiful Bournemouth beaches, we recommend seeing the world-famous Sandbanks Peninsula and Bournemouth Gardens, as well as having a ride on the land trains if you have the time.
For seashore history and culture
Whitby, known for its historical significance and picturesque harbour, should be at the top of your list for a beach vacation. Whitby, on the east coast of North Yorkshire, is well-known for its unique culture and gothic links (including Dracula by Bram Stoker!). In addition, Whitby has excellent beaches with long expanses of sand and adorable beach houses. Whitby, an old-fashioned seaside town, has its fair share of wonderful ice cream and fish and chip stores, as well as some quite unconventional housing options.
We recommend hiking the 199 steps to the world-famous Whitby Abbey, which offers breathtaking views of the sea, and visiting the Whitby Museum to discover more about the town’s rich history.
For a little different
St Andrews is a unique seaside town with historic buildings and beautiful golf courses. St Andrews, known as the “home of golf,” has a lot more to offer than you may imagine, making it an excellent destination for a beach vacation. St Andrews, home to one of the world’s top colleges, also boasts various gorgeous seaside walks to enjoy, as well as a plethora of spectacular ruins scattered throughout the town. The gorgeous scenery throughout the town makes St Andrews well worth a visit, and if you don’t mind a bit of rain every now and then, we’re confident you’ll enjoy every minute.
We recommend visiting the cathedral remains and museum, as well as staying at the Old Course Hotel for stunning seaside views and spa treatments.
For good old-fashioned seashore enjoyment.
When you think of a trip to the beautiful British coast, Brighton usually comes to mind. Whether you’re meandering along the pebbled beach with an ice cream or spending your pocket money on the famed amusement pier, Brighton is a wonderful excursion for any duration. The town is well-known for its diverse population, active nightlife, and artistic culture. Similar to Whitby, there are many of ice cream and fish & chip shops. Brighton is a lovely coastal destination at any time of year, but you must depart with a piece of rock (legally!).
We recommend climbing the 162-metre-high Brighton observation tower and visiting the world-famous Royal Pavilion, which once housed many members of the Royal Family.
