About London
The history of London can be traced from pre-historic age. It has believed that once the elephant, rhinos, tigers, and wolves roamed the area and the skull of Mammoth was found in the area in 1860; now it is exhibited at the Natural History Museum. The name was first recorded in the Domesday Book as "Ileford" which means “Ford over the Hyle”. Hyle was the former name for the River Roding.
